Using the

Classwork Page

The Classwork Page is where educators will go to create content for their students. When using Google Classroom you can create assignments, materials or questions. Here we'll describe some of the differences between these three options, demonstrate how to organize content using topics and how to reuse posts for multiple classes or from year to year.

You can utilize full screen for each video, if you prefer.

Creating Content Made Easy

Topics

Creating topics keeps your assignments, materials and questions organized by unit or lesson on the classwork page. Topics can be rearranged (moved up or down) on the classwork page, as needed, to assist students in more easily finding course content. Topics can then be added to each new assignment or material created.

Assignments

Creating Assignments allows educators to share prompts and documents to students and enables students to attach or edit documents to return. Student responses are not editable or able to be viewed by peers. Assignments go directly from teacher to student.

Questions

Model digital citizenship or capture learning using questions in Google Classroom. Students can view and comment on other students' responses and edit their answers. Attaching documents as an instructor or student is still available using questions!

Materials

Materials can be shared with students when educators want an easier/faster way for students to access or navigate to lesson materials. Attach documents from Google Drive or anywhere on the web including YouTube videos. These do not allow for student input - simply viewing files.

Reuse Posts

A new feature as of 2018, Google Classroom allows educators to now reuse posts between classes (active or archived) and more easily modify previously created content to share with students. Educators are able to duplicate attachments and change due dates!
